Birthplace of Country Music Museum

The Carter Family and Jimmie Rodgers recorded here — or close enough that Bristol, Virginia claims the title. The museum on Birthplace of Country Music Way tells the story of the 1927 Bristol Sessions, the recordings that introduced country music to a mainstream audience. A Smithsonian affiliate, it runs a live radio station, WBCM-LP, broadcasting from inside the building. The original recording site is marked by a plaque a few blocks away.
