When the first train rolled into present-day Whitefish on October 4, 1904, there wasn't much here. Within a year, there was a city. The Tudor Revival depot built in 1927 — high pointed roof, stucco and half-timbering, tall narrow windows — still stands at Depot Park, still active, its decorative detailing a deliberate echo of the Glacier National Park chalets the railroad was simultaneously selling to the world.
