The fountain went in during 1858, cast iron manufactured in New York, its design derived from the fountains at Place de la Concorde in Paris. It has appeared in *Forrest Gump*, *Cape Fear*, and *Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil*. The park itself is 30 acres, dating to the 1840s, named for Georgia Governor John Forsyth. Every St. Patrick's Day, the fountain runs green.
