SCAD Museum of Art

The United States' oldest surviving railroad depot — built in 1853 — is now the setting for SCAD's contemporary art museum, which completed a major expansion in 2011. The permanent collection spans African American art, photography, fashion, and more, with rotating exhibitions drawing from artists across the world. A bronze medallion embedded in the lobby floor honors a story of escape that passed through this very building. The museum is on the National Register of Historic Places.
