Kit Carson Park and Cemetery

The cemetery here dates to 1847, and the names it holds tell you exactly what kind of place Taos was and still is: Kit Carson, his wife Maria Josefa Jaramillo Carson, Governor Charles Bent, the Don Antonio Martinez family, Mabel Dodge Luhan — frontiersmen, colonizers, survivors of revolt, artists who came and never left.
