Albuquerque Museum

The city runs this one — that's worth knowing before you walk in. Adjacent to Old Town Albuquerque, the museum opened in 1967 and focuses on New Mexico art, the history of Albuquerque, and Southwestern archaeology. The foundation that supports it raises funds and operates the store, stocking work from local New Mexico and Southwest artisans. General admission is free Sunday mornings from 9 to 1, excluding Balloon Fiesta week.
