New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science

The museum keeps finding things. A team including paleontologists from this Albuquerque institution recently identified a massive new duck-billed dinosaur species in the rocks of northwestern New Mexico — an animal that lived around 75 million years ago and may have weighed more than nine tons. That kind of work is the point here: active science, not just display cases. The museum runs a DynaTheater and a planetarium alongside its permanent exhibits, and closes on Tuesdays.
