Moonstone Beach (Cambria)

Good forFamiliesOutdoor lovers

The stones here aren't actually moonstones. What washes ashore along this Cambria beach is chalcedony — a type of quartz — along with agates, jasper, jade, and sea glass, all polished smooth by the surf. A wooden boardwalk runs the length of the beach atop the bluff, flat and ADA compliant, connecting the Santa Rosa Creek day-use area to Leffingwell Landing. The whole stretch falls within Hearst San Simeon State Park. Parking is free. Come at low tide, when more of the beach is walkable.
