The site chose you before you did. In 1989, the Perrin family of Château de Beaucastel and American importer Robert Haas selected this former alfalfa farm in the Adelaida district west of Paso Robles for its limestone soils — ground that reminded them of southern France. Vines imported from Beaucastel went through a USDA quarantine before the first clones were released. The first Tablas Creek wines came in 1997. In 2020, the winery became the first certified regenerative organic winery in the United States.
