Toro Negro State Forest

Good forOutdoor lovers

Puerto Rico's highest cloud forest sits in the Cordillera Central, covering more than 8,200 cuerdas across five municipalities. Toro Negro holds Cerro de Punta — at 4,390 feet, the island's highest peak — along with Cerro Jayuya and Cerro Rosa, the three highest points in Puerto Rico. Nine rivers flow out of the forest. The land was coffee plantation before a reforestation program began in the 1930s; what grows here now was planted with intention, and it held.
