Hall of Mosses

The trail is less than a mile, but don't mistake that for minor. The Hall of Mosses is a loop through the Hoh Rain Forest in Olympic National Park — rated easy, good for kids, open to Roosevelt elk and banana slugs alike. The brief doesn't oversell it, and neither should we: under a hundred feet of elevation gain, ancient trees, and moss. That's the whole argument. Sometimes that's enough.
