Moody Mansion

Narcissa Willis commissioned this Broadway mansion in 1893, then died before her estranged family ever crossed its threshold. William Lewis Moody, Jr. bought it for $20,000 after the 1900 hurricane drove competing bidders away — a fraction of its worth. His family moved in and celebrated Christmas there that year. The Moodys stayed for generations; today the house operates as a museum, listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1994, with tours and event rentals available at 2618 Broadway.
