Federal-style house built in 1786 by Brigadier General George Weedon, Continental Army officer and later mayor of Fredericksburg, who named it after his military service. Weedon and his fellow officer Hugh Mercer both settled on Caroline Street at Washington's suggestion after the French and Indian War.
