Grand Canyon South Rim

The park covers more than 1.2 million acres of northwestern Arizona, and in 2023 it drew more than 4.7 million visitors to stand at the edge of the Colorado River's gorge — often called one of the Wonders of the World. The South Rim is the main event: open every day, around the clock. Flagstaff, 90 minutes away, is the sensible base — close enough to arrive early, before the crowds find their footing.
