Hopi House

National Register of Historic Places
Good forHistory buffsArts & culture lovers

Mary Colter designed Hopi House to resemble a Hopi pueblo, modeling it on structures at Oraibi, Arizona. Completed in 1905 on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, the multi-story sandstone building originally housed Hopi artist-demonstrators on its upper floors while selling Native American arts and crafts below — a function it still serves today.
