Museum of Northern Arizona

Good forHistory buffsArts & culture lovers

Founded in 1928 by University of Pennsylvania zoology professor Harold S. Colton and artist Mary-Russell Ferrell Colton, the Museum of Northern Arizona grew from a two-room operation into a 24,700-square-foot exhibits building dedicated to the natural history and cultures of the Colorado Plateau. Collections focus on the Hopi, Zuni, and Navajo. Mary-Russell served as curator of art and ethnology; Katharine Bartlett joined as curator in 1930 and held the position for 51 years. The work they built is still the reason to go.
