Good forOutdoor lovers
Oak Creek Canyon runs roughly 12 miles through northern Arizona between Flagstaff and Sedona, carved by Oak Creek — one of the few perennial streams in this high desert region — along a fault line that left the west rim standing some 700 feet higher than the east. State Route 89A descends through it via hairpin turns, climbing approximately 2,200 feet from Sedona to the rim. The canyon holds the most popular trail in the Coconino National Forest, the West Fork Trail, along with Slide Rock State Park and 49 fishable miles of creek holding trout, bass, and catfish.
