Glacier National Park Backcountry Permit System / Highline Trail

Glacier is a backpacker's paradise by any honest measure — over 700 miles of trails, 65 wilderness campgrounds, and a permit system that requires real planning. A lottery opens each spring for advance reservations; remaining sites go first-come, first-served. The wilderness here stays deliberately undeveloped. Come prepared, or don't come at all.
