Willow City Loop

Thirteen miles of private ranchland north of Fredericksburg, and the land along the road belongs to someone else — stop the car and you'll be reminded of it. What draws people anyway, particularly in late March and early April, is the wildflowers: bluebonnets and Indian paintbrush thick enough to read as color from a moving vehicle, alongside phlox, coreopsis, Mexican poppies, firewheels, and white and yellow daisies. Drive it on a weekday. Free admission, daylight hours only.
