Comfort Historic District

National Register of Historic Places
Good forHistory buffsArts & culture lovers

Comfort's downtown core spent a century building itself out of limestone and brick, and most of it is still standing. The Comfort Historic District encompasses nearly the entire original townsite — more than 100 buildings representing development from 1854 through 1954 — and holds a place on the National Register of Historic Places. German immigrant settlers laid the town out in 1854, and their Freethinker heritage shaped what rose here.
