Point Buchon Trail

The name alone tells the deeper story. Point Buchon was named for El Buchon, a Chumash chief whose people inhabited this Central Coast long before the Portolá expedition passed through in 1769. The land stayed closed to the public for generations — PG&E property, adjacent to Diablo Canyon. Opening it required a condition of a coastal development permit, which is how this trail came to exist at all. Sign the waiver, walk the bluffs.
