Morro Bay Embarcadero

Good forFood & drink loversHistory buffs

Franklin Riley founded the town of Morro Bay in 1870 as a port for dairy and ranch products, and the wharf he built to make that work became the Embarcadero. In the 1870s, schooners called here to load wool, potatoes, barley, and dairy goods. What remains is a working waterfront — commercial fishing still operates alongside the restaurants and shops — the oldest function of the place still visible in the newer ones.
