Port Townsend Marine Science Center

The Salish Sea — one of the world's largest and most biologically rich inland seas — needs people who give a damn about it. At Fort Worden State Park, the Port Townsend Marine Science Center has been making that case since its founding by two teachers, with volunteers doing the work from the start. Touch tanks, live marine animals, wildlife cruises, low-tide walks: the mission is conservation, and the method is getting your hands wet. A second location now operates in downtown Port Townsend.
