Windmill Island Gardens

Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands presided over the opening of Windmill Island Gardens on April 10, 1965 — and his ticket and the ten guilder bill he paid with are still on display. The centerpiece is De Zwaan, the only authentic, working Dutch windmill in the United States, purchased in 1964 from a retired miller in the Dutch province of North Brabant and shipped to Muskegon before making its final journey by truck. It still grinds flour.
