Holland State Park and Big Red Lighthouse

The harbor's first beacon went up in 1870. What stands now began as a manila-colored fog signal building in 1907, became an official lighthouse in 1936, and didn't turn red until 1956. Holland State Park sits directly across the channel — the closest and, by most accounts, the best vantage point for the lighthouse locals simply call Big Red.
