Hopi Old Oraibi

The Sinagua, the brief tells us, likely moved north and became the Hopi. Old Oraibi, on Third Mesa, is where that continuity landed and held — a village occupied continuously since approximately 1100 CE, recognized as one of the oldest continuously inhabited settlements in North America. It carries a National Historic Landmark designation. That is the whole argument: people built something here, stayed, and the staying itself became the monument.
