Robert H. Treman State Park

Good forOutdoor lovers

Lucifer Falls drops 115 feet through a gorge that took the better part of the last twenty to thirty thousand years to cut. The geology here — layered Devonian shale and sandstone — fractures in flat slabs and angular edges, and the path through Enfield Glen follows Enfield Creek along the base of those formations for a 4.5-mile round trip. Robert H. Treman bought the land in 1915, planted over a thousand trees, and donated it to New York State in 1920. The gorge earned its name. Go find out why.
