Good forHistory buffsArts & culture lovers

Wayland's Crossing became Crozet in 1870, renamed for the French-born engineer who directed the construction of the Blue Ridge Tunnel and is said to have lodged nearby while surveying the land. The Crozet Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012, runs along Crozet Avenue, Main Street, and Three Notch'd Road — late 19th and early 20th-century storefronts and houses, the built record of a railroad town in Albemarle County, about 12 miles west of Charlottesville.
