Evans Plunge Mineral Springs

The Lakota called this valley *wiwila kata* — warm springs — and prized it long before Fred Evans built the first structure over its springs in 1890, making Evans Plunge the oldest tourist attraction in the Black Hills. The thermal spring at the pool's north end still pushes 5,000 gallons per minute into water that holds steady at 87 degrees Fahrenheit, refreshing the entire pool every hour and a half. The City of Hot Springs purchased and now operates it. The water is minimally treated. That's the point.
