National Register of Historic Places
Good forHistory buffsArts & culture lovers

17-story Neo-Classical Revival limestone courthouse on City County Plaza, completed 1928 by Frank Pierce Milburn — at the time the tallest courthouse in the country and the second-tallest building in NC. Built next to (and in conscious contrast with) Douglas Ellington's Art Deco City Hall after Buncombe County rejected Ellington's matching Deco design for the courthouse.
