Foothills Brewing

Foothills has been brewing in Winston-Salem since 2004. The downtown brewpub on West Fourth Street anchors what's now a legitimate brewery district — Wise Man, Hoots, Small Batch, Joymongers, Fiddlin' Fish, and Incendiary have all set up within reach. That concentration didn't happen by accident. Someone had to go first.

The operation runs two locations: the original brewpub at 638 W. Fourth and a production brewery with tasting room out on Kimwell Drive. The downtown pub is open seven days a week. If you want the full picture of what Winston-Salem's craft scene looks like today, this is the right place to start — not because it's the flashiest room on the block, but because it's the one that made the block possible.
