Pismo State Beach

Good forFamiliesOutdoor lovers

Seventeen miles of Pacific shoreline, Pismo State Beach stretches through Pismo Beach and Grover Beach, managed by the California Department of Parks and Recreation. The beach is home to the Pismo clam and holds one of the largest overwintering monarch butterfly colonies in the country — peak season runs November to February. Marine life includes abalone, sea anemones, crabs, and brown pelicans. Cars can still drive on the southern dunes. Come for the butterflies in winter; come for the surf any time.
