Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park

Meijer Inc. donated the land in 1991 — 70.7 acres of stream and wetland that had been earmarked for a superstore until a different site was found. What grew there instead opened in 1995: 158 acres of botanical gardens and outdoor sculpture park in Grand Rapids Township, shaped by Frederik Meijer's collection of large-scale sculpture and Lena Meijer's love of plants. The permanent collection includes work by Henry Moore, Auguste Rodin, and Nina Akamu. In 2023, 2024, and 2025, USA Today named it the country's top sculpture park.
