Doc Holliday's Grave (Linwood Cemetery)

He died in bed, which surprised him. Doc Holliday — dentist, gambler, gunfighter, friend of Wyatt Earp — came to Glenwood Springs hoping the hot springs and vapor caves might slow the tuberculosis that had been killing him for years. They didn't. He died on November 8, 1887, at age 36, and is buried in Linwood Cemetery above town. The exact location of his grave is uncertain. A memorial marker stands in his name, typically left with coins, playing cards, and shot glasses by those who made the climb.
