Silk Stocking Historic District

Galveston built its wealth fast and stacked it on a barrier island — and the Silk Stocking Historic District is where that wealth put down roots. The residential neighborhood along 24th and 25th Streets takes its name from the prosperous families who settled there, and it holds a place on the National Register of Historic Places.
