Geneva Historic District

Geneva's historic district is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. That designation matters now in a concrete way: a proposed five-story, 72-unit residential facility from Lakeview Health Services is drawing pushback precisely because it would require multiple zoning variances to build within the district's boundaries — reduced parking, a footprint closer to lot lines than current code allows. The community worked to protect this downtown. Whether that protection holds is, at the moment, an open question.
