Dan Bailey's Fly Shop

Dan Bailey abandoned a physics career in 1938 to open a fly shop in Livingston, Montana — a decision shaped, according to Wikipedia, by a car accident that stranded him there instead of Bozeman. The shop he built became, by 1981, the largest manufacturer of artificial flies in the United States, producing over 750,000 flies annually.
