Oregon Observatory at Sunriver (OMSI)

The largest collection of telescopes available for public use in the United States sits in Sunriver, about fifteen miles south of Bend. Nearly three dozen telescopes make up the observatory's collection — from small refractors to a 30-inch Newtonian — many of them donated by individuals and families whose names the instruments still carry. The surrounding area holds DarkSky certification, and the elevation and clear desert air do the rest. Come at night with a reservation.
