Deschutes River Whitewater Park

The Deschutes River runs through the middle of Bend, and someone had the sense to put it to work. The Whitewater Park sits near the Old Mill District, where three channels serve both recreation and ecological conservation. Kayakers, canoeists, tubers, and river surfers all share the water. The park is functional infrastructure built for actual use — which is exactly why it works.
