The oldest standing structure in Central Louisiana, built between 1796 and 1800 using bousillage — a French colonial technique mixing clay and Spanish moss. Pierre Baillio raised the house on a Spanish land grant; Robert C. Hynson later renamed it for Kent County, Maryland. Open to visitors since 1975, the house interprets plantation life from 1795 to 1855.
