Llano County Courthouse

National Register of Historic Places
Good forHistory buffsArts & culture lovers

The story of how Llano got its current courthouse begins with fire — local tradition holds that wranglers torched an earlier one in 1880 to destroy records of pending felony indictments. The present building, completed in 1893, was designed by architect A. O. Watson in the Romanesque Revival style, its exterior combining sandstone, marble, brick, and granite. A $2.8 million grant from the Texas Historic Courthouse Preservation Program funded its restoration, completed in June 2002. It remains an active county courthouse.
