Newport Folk Festival

Fort Adams State Park holds something that began in 1959 and hasn't stopped mattering since. The Newport Folk Festival — founded by George Wein, Albert Grossman, Pete Seeger, Theodore Bikel, and Oscar Brand — is now in its 67th year, runs July 24–26, 2026, and is already sold out. It sells out before the lineup is even announced. That's not marketing. That's a festival that earned its reputation the hard way.
