Elizabeth Cady Stanton House

National Historic Landmark
Good forHistory buffsArts & culture lovers

Elizabeth Cady Stanton lived here from 1847 to 1862, and it was in these years that she organized the 1848 Seneca Falls Convention — the first convention called for the purpose of discussing women's rights — and wrote its Declaration of Sentiments. Her father purchased the house for the couple when they moved to Seneca Falls. Declared a National Historic Landmark in 1965, the house is now part of the Women's Rights National Historical Park. The house is smaller than it originally was, but otherwise preserved as Stanton knew it.
