Cayuga Wine Trail

America's first wine trail began here, on the western hills above Cayuga Lake, when a handful of local wineries organized the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail in 1981 — the first enotourism venture in New York state. Seven years later, the region earned AVA status as the nation's 100th designated appellation. Most of the wineries running the trail today are family-owned operations. That's not marketing language — it means you're likely talking to the person who grew the grapes.
